Carol Oya was born and raised in Vancouver. As a kid, she loved to watch "Solid Gold" and mimic her idols, Olivia Newton-John and Sheena Easton. Carol began performing professionally when she moved to Spain and sang with a rock band. After living in Japan and fronting two jazz quartets, she returned to Canada and currently lives in Toronto where she performs jazz.
