In celebration of their 125th anniversary, Vancouver’s Japanese Consulate present a special historical forum PARALLEL PATHS:  Japanese Diplomacy and Nikkei Heritage. Using Diplomatic Archives and historical information, Consul General Okada and keynote speaker Gordon Kadota review the Post-War Rebuilding Period and trace the concurrent histories of the Japanese Consulate as it reopened and post-interment Japanese Canadians who sought to re-build their lives and communities. Presentation will include a panel discussion and Q&A session.

To celebrate the 125th anniversary since the Consulate of Japan opened in Vancouver in 1889 as the first Japanese government office in Canada, the Cultural Affairs Section is pleased to provide information about the culture of Japan, travel, and programs offered by the consulate.

Saturday & Sunday, 11:30am – 5:00pm, Vancouver Japanese Language School, 4th floor

In conjunction with the PARALLEL PATHS historical forum, the Consulate General of Japan will also display a small collection of photographs depicting local history of the consulate and the Japanese Canadian community.
